Tips to Relieve Stress for the Holiday Season 2011!

The Holidayseason has arrived!  We all know what this means… lots of Christmas shopping, holiday parties, and family gatherings!  Here at Culver Chiropractic, we know how much you don’t want to miss any of those fun things!

So, we’ve come up with a few tips that’ll help deal with the stresses the holiday season may bring.

  1. Get an adjustment!  It’ll be great for your immune system, and of course, relieve your stress! We’re positive that all that Christmas decorating and shopping has put a few kinks and knots on your back… (we know those shopping bags can get a bit heavy!)  And of course, we can’t forget about those holiday parties!  How can you get on the dance floor with an aching back?.. That’s right, you can’t… Come in for an adjustment and we’ll be sure to have you ready to party!

  1. In addition to getting an adjustment, don’t forget to take those daily vitamins!  You wouldn’t want to be sick during the holiday season!  We’ve just recently restocked our shelves with vitamins to keep you healthy and away from the flu!  We also just ordered some vitamins specifically for just women and for men!

  1. Exercise!  Exercising releases those feel-good neurotransmitters called endorphins.  It’ll increase your confidence and lower symptoms of anxiety.  Exercise also will help improve your sleep which is often disrupted by stress or anxiety.  Take a look at different exercises that we have posted here.

  1. Get more sleep!  We know that the holiday season gets a little hectic with work and all of the social activities you may have for you and your family.  Attempt to get an 7-8 hours of sleep, and you’ll feel more refreshed in the morning!

  1. Last but not least, don’t forget to LAUGH! Laughter is one of the most effective therapies for stress.  A good laugh decreases levels of stress hormones and causes endorphin levels to rise and can even strengthen our immune system!  Come in for an appointment, and we’ll be sure to crack you up! :)

We hope you all have a wonderful holiday season!

The Dirty Dozen

Ever heard of The Dirty Dozen?

Well, it’s a group of 12 fruits and vegetables…

If you’re eating non-organic produce, you may be ingesting 47-67 different types of pesticides.  We all know eating locally-grown, organic foods is beneficial to our health, but we also know how expensive this can be. In an article we found on About.com, they listed a number of fruits and vegetables from worst to least that contained pesticides.

The Dirty Dozen are as follows:

  1. Celery
  2. Peaches
  3. Strawberries
  4. Apples
  5. Blueberries
  6. Nectarines
  7. Sweet Bell Peppers
  8. Spinach
  9. Kale and Collard Greens
  10. Cherries
  11. Potatoes
  12. Grapes
